Argos Rio Claro switched from ordinary Portland cement (OPC) production to pozzolanic cement (PPC), achieving 38% emission reduction and 30% less energy consumption. 

The construction of the MoveMaster C-AF conveyor is adjusted to the specific properties of alternative fuels, as well as to specific requirements of alt fuels transport, but the conveyor may also be used for other material with bulk density up to 700 kg / m3.The conveyor is supplied in straight or “L” and “Z” versions. The length of the conveyor track is up to 40 m. The conveyors are equipped with forged chains with high strength and large contact areas ensuring low wear and tear of guide rails.

Normal cement production processes are based on producing and storing goods in the expectation of them being consumed and in manufacturing terms, which is characterized as a 'Push' principle. The 'Manufacturing Push' principle can be an inefficient use of both resources and capital, resulting in increased inventory/stock levels and the tying up of cash. The Schenck Process MULTICOR® Blending System solves this problem and facilitates the 'Manufacturing Pull' principle by only producing goods when they are ordered -- no need for the cement manufacturer to store blended cement production in the expectation of consumption. Mixing according to the "Just in time" principle, a rotating measuring wheel mixes the main components and additives directly in the MULTICOR® S and MULTICOR® H according to the Coriolis principle. No separate mixer is required, and any mixture can be produced. This saves costs that would otherwise be incurred by using intermediate transport technology and silos.

Argos Rio Claro, Colombia, owned and operated by its parent company Cementos Argos, wanted to achieve a higher clinker substitution rate for its Portland cement, by blending alternative cementitious materials. This substitution is helping to advance the company’s sustainability drive to achieve zero carbon emissions by 2050 or sooner. The resulting project involved the construction of the world’s largest calcined clay kiln in operation to date, with a capacity of 1500 tons/day.An operation of this type would normally require a complex system to manage, measure and mix materials with the level of accuracy required, yet Argos Rio Claro was able to manage its process updates with a compact system that simplified the process steps without sacrificing accuracy or efficiency.
